Sentinel® CSFV E2 Antibody ELISA Kit

Classical swine fever (CSF) or hog cholera is a viral disease that is highly contagious among swine and wild boars. It can cause major economic losses in pig production. Clinical signs of CSF are variable, it usually causes fever, conjunctivitis, skin lesions, convulsions and often leads to death of the animal within less than four weeks (particularly in young animals). The Classical swine fever virus (CSFV) is classified as a Pestivirus within the family Flaviviridae. Sentinel CSFV E2 Ab ELISA is designed for detection of the antibodies against E2 protein of the CSFV in the pigs, thus could be useful to detection of an infected pig to prevent the virus to spread in disease free area or to estimate the vaccination situation in the herd.

The Sentinel® CSFV E2 Ab ELISA Kit includes ELISA plates coated with recombinant CSFV E2 protein. 2 times diluted test samples are dispensed to the wells of an ELISA plate, and then anti-CSFV E2 specific monoclonal antibody is added. Therefore, the HRP labeled antibody bind to the rest of recombinant CSFV E2 protein and form antigen-antibody complex. Finally, TMB is used as a chromogen for color development. Color intensity is measured by ELISA reader at a wavelength of 450 nm and then percentage inhibition (PI) can be calculated to identify the amount of CSFV E2 antibody in the specimen.
