Sentinel® CSFV E2 Antibody Rapid Test

Classical swine fever (CSF) or hog cholera is a viral disease that is highly contagious among swine and wild boars. It can cause major economic losses in pig production. Clinical signs of CSF are variable, it usually causes fever, conjunctivitis, skin lesions, convulsions and often leads to death of the animal in less than four weeks (particularly in young animals) . Classical swine fever virus (CSFV) is classified as a Pestivirus within the family Flaviviridae. The Sentinel® CSFV E2 Ab Rapid Test is an immuno-chromatographic lateral flow assay and is designed to detect antibodies against E2 protein of CSFV in pig blood, thus could be useful to estimate the vaccination performance in the herd.

The Sentinel® CSFV E2 Ab Rapid Test is a lateral flow immunoassay. It is designed to detect CSFV E2 Antibody in swine serum or plasma. In the test procedure, serum or plasma is added to the sample well "S" of the test device, labeled antibody-gold conjugate binds to the CSFV E2 Ab present in the specimen forming an CSFV E2 Ab -gold complex. When the CSFV E2 Ab is at or above SN 32X (VNT), the CSFV E2 Ab -gold overflow the test line (T) where recombinant CSFV E2 protein is immobilized, a visual test band forms can be interpreted and the color of test line can identify CSFV E2 Antibody in the specimen.
